Splint, 2000

Artificial hip joints, usually associated with the healing process and mobility are presented as Cruciform, a symbol of physical restriction and death.

The 'Splint' series was made as part of Paddy Hartley's Year of the Artist residency at The Thackray Medical Museum, Leeds.

The Splint series was supported by De Puy Instruments, manufacturers of artificial joints.
