Cradle to Cradle III, 2007

This complex unpredictable living installation hovers just above the floor. It consists of over 200 test tubes suspended on fine cotton strings surrounded by a variety of water filled glass flasks supporting runner bean plants. The tubes contain a saturated salt solution and crystals cling to the cotton strings. The predicted outcome is that crystals enlarge in the test tubes while the bean plants entwine themselves vertically up their strings. The wire attachments will corrode/discolour and rust. This piece brings together natural & human made systems & the outcome is inconclusive/unpredictable.
