A relatively still image, this video shows a semi-rural setting in which a bird is perched on a dead tree branch. It is raining steadily but the bird sits oblivious, rarely moving, staring out in front of itself, exposed to the rain and perhaps contemplating. The audience has a privileged view of the bird and the scene in front of it and we are left wondering and pondering ourselves. Respite has links to painting through its composition, content and intent offering the viewer more than the image in front of them.
