Typewriter Jewellery, 2006 - 2007

This collection of jewellery has been inspired by a love of old typewriters and the idea of rescuing them from landfill sites!

Attempting to use as many of the internal parts and also the keys, a variety of articles have been made, that in many cases contain word play and humour.

Alongside the typewriter jewellery, old cash register keys, scrabble tiles, dominos and any other small objects that contain or consist of letters and numbers, have been used.

This collection has been made from a studio in Bryggen, Bergen, Norway as part of a yearlong stay in this city. This studio is primarily a jewellery workshop, so many of the parts contain silver elements, improving skills in silversmithing.

This work is for sale at various design markets in Bergen, and also in StudioHergebruik, Rotterdam; Blaze, Bristol; Mint, Bergen; Northern Print, Newcastle. It has been exhibited in the Arnolfini bookshop, Bristol and Kystmuseum, Florø, Norway.
