Tell Tales-a city guide, 2006

In cartography telltales are elements of a map that are added as a way of telling if a fraudulent copy has been made. They are hidden clues that bear no relation to the geography of a place, but instead signify fictional streets, places or contours in the land or cityscape. For this project I am interested in how the cartographers telltales can offer an alternative reading of a city or space, a fictional loophole in the pragmatic and information based language of street maps. Tell Tales a city guide is a book of extracts from literary novels descriptive of places to be used as a guide and strategy to explore, experience and re-consider city space.
