I wanted to allude to the prehistoric context of the sculpture, whilst also celebrating the health-orientated activities at the new leisure facility. Research therefore involved looking for a site-specific contemporary form, which also echoed the sites distant past. I conceived a fusion of the two forms a swimmers arm in sequential movement and a palm leaf to create a palimpsest.
