Each pebble has a facet sanded away from the bottom so that it can stand up. In natural light the stones cast dramatic shadows and in top light they are shadowless, appearing more disconnected to the ground, suggesting free fall or bouncing up and down. The work also has an unexpected scale with the artist appearing somehow too big in relation to the stones, suggesting a mythical god placing the components of the earth. Associations include standing stones, early man, the dawn of time, of the earth, meteors, outer space, a storm or shower, a sparkling jewel.
