Flat Pack Sculpture: Yellow, 2004

Part of a series, this piece implies a kit form or 'ready to assemble' sculpture. Through this implication I deal with an imagined rather than a real space. What is the purpose or eventual form? The transient nature of an object is focused upon and the world of DIY is referenced. The container/contained sculpture can be seen as coffin-like or a group of boxed relics ready for storage. There is a functionality to the sculpture. There is also an ambiguity. Is it part of a future construction or a group of fragments of something dismantled?
