Triluminar, 2005 - 2006

This stitch installation, in contrasting red and green, has been informed by heraldic coats of arms. In these examples though, the shapes breach the boundaries if the shields in order to subvert their traditional symbolic function. The stitched-in shapes are taken from the ground markings of historical settlements; the angular forms from ancient Roman dwellings and the circular forms represent the shapes and orientation of prehistoric round houses.
