Crown, - 2006

I was commissioned by BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) to create a number of sculptural artworks to be placed around the woodland site. In total I created six pieces in oak, which link to each other both visually and thematically. Some of the works connect by ‘siting through’ a view hole to the next work, thus drawing the viewer across and through the woodland.

Each waymarker has wrapped leaves carved around the view holes. Both Crown and Rising Oak also have wrapped leaves, celebrating the variety of native tree species recently planted in this new woodland.

The works are set in a line linking across the length of the woodland towards the site of the new visitor centre, currently under construction.
