Peter Appleton

A series of solar powered information sound posts distributed throughout Earth Centre. These comment on the history and ecology of the site. The image shows a series positioned on the bridge entering Earth Centre. These contain an interview with a miner from the original coal-pit situated at the site and comment on the underground experiences and on the local community. They employ a system evolved over a number of years which store digital sound phases triggered by people walking by them. Most recently a number of these have been bought by the Warwickshire wildlife trust to provide information within a new nature reserve near Birmingham. The commentary is provided by David Bellamy.
