Resting Place, - 2012

Walking across the lawn, away from the palace and towards the edge of the forest, you approach a small circle of trees quite close to the forest entrance.

‘Resting Place’ lies in the centre of these trees. It is a large hollow form of woven willow, resting on a circular bed of split bamboo shavings. The simplicity of the work allows the mind to roam free, and gives the impression of a nest, a coracle or a basket, that has been moving through space and come to rest on the earth on its circular bed.

My aim in this work was to make a precise response to the site, and reveal its essential nature.

150x300x300cm.

willow, split bamboo shavings, twigs, leaves
