flowers, 2005

This installation was part of art in romney marsh, 2005. For St George Church in Ivychurch, I created a large circular floor piece with one thousand white knitted flowers. Using a simple childlike design, the flowers are made with French (spool) knitted braids and together form a giant doily that fills the empty space of the nave. This decorative piece aimed to celebrate local craftsmen and women who through history have made work for the churches.
