IMPACT 24, - 2010
IMPACT 24 was an installation produced for SMOKESCREEN, an exhibition at Gallerie Weltraum in Munich.
Referencing the type of image making commonly found in old news print, the 2 room gallery was painstakingly covered from floor to ceiling in hand painted dots.
There are two versions of the world; the official one presented to us and the one felt through lived experience. The work set out to explore this duality by producing a life sized image of the gallery, suggesting an imaginary space that coincided with the real.
The work acquired new meanings through the hectic production process; the repetative nature of the work and the covering of spots referenced labour as well as sickness.
The title refers both to the 24 pin Impact Printer and 24 hour rolling news.
