Axisweb films: Own Art film commission
During the summer of 2012 we worked with Own Art to create a series of films, meeting people across the country who have used the scheme to purchase contemporary art
At Axisweb we’re keen to support Own Art because it plays a vital role in developing new audiences for contemporary art and supporting artists’ livelihoods – which is precisely why we’re here too!
Ian is an avid contemporary art collector and over the years he has purchased numerous works by a number of contemporary artists including an extensive collection of paintings by Charming Baker.
Michael and Hilary Quick
Michael and Hilary frequently use the Own Art scheme to purchase works from their favouritie gallery - White Space Art in Totnes.
David and his wife Lynne purchase various types of work from Millennium Gallery in St Ives which reflect the couple’s interest in Cornish art and their love of the area. Over the years they have built a strong relationship with the gallery.
Jenny Wilson and Gideon Seymour
Daniel Khan is a first-time buyer from Chester who was drawn to the 'ugly beauty' of Stephen Dixon's ceramic vessels at the Bluecoat Display Centre in Liverpool.
Jane Wilde and Adrian Lear
Jane Wilde and Adrian Lear run Strongarbh House, an elegant B&B in Tobermory. As well as displaying artworks in each of the bedrooms, the hotel has its very own gallery where the couple indulge their passion for contemporary art.
