“[Being on Axisweb] is part of trying to give my work a public aspect, beyond the temporary nature of exhibitions.”
I have had my work on Axisweb for several years now, it's part of trying to give my work a public aspect, beyond the temporary nature of exhibitions.
I have used Axisweb as part of that aspect of promoting myself, so when I have a show on or anything else I need to draw attention to I make sure it goes out through as many channels as possible.
For instance I recently started The Artists Space, it’s either a group workshop or a private consultation for artists to reflect on their attitudes to their careers. I created a workshop on Axisweb to help promote it, I then directed some of my Tweets and LinkedIn posts to the Axisweb page just to get some information currents going.
Axisweb also invited me to a focus group a couple of years ago about mid-career artists and it was really good to be part of that and meet a large group of artists and find out about our common issues and of course as in any group of artists our rich diversity of approaches and interests.
